Terminology

Interviewing:

  • A form of consultation and process of gathering data, and/or providing information, and/or suggesting workable solutions/alternatives for resolving concerns

  • Tends to be one-way, shorter, closed-ended questions

Coaching:

  • Partnering with individuals/groups in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires building personal and professional potential

  • Working together to solve problems

Counselling:

  • An intensive and personal process for individuals/groups, focused on listening and developing strategies for change and growth

  • Personal growth oriented

Psychotherapy:

  • Focused on deep-seated and entrenched individual (or group) issues, which often require more time for resolution

  • Deeper individual focus
